  • Cobb Pinot Noir Diane Cobb: Coastlands Vineyard 2015 -- 750ml

Cobb Pinot Noir Diane Cobb: Coastlands Vineyard 2015

    • Tasting Notes

My notes: Extremely fragrant with floral rose petal, lavender and blood orange citrus on the nose along with rich raspberry and red cherry fruits, spicy bay laurel and white pepper notes. Takes 1-2 hours to open up, yielding sappy notes and rich, broad tannins, reflective of these 29-year-old vines. Highly recommended for your long-term cellar program.

    • The Vineyard

My family takes immense pride in the fact that Coastlands was one of the first Pinot Noir vineyards on the far Sonoma Coast. More than just being one of the pioneering vineyards, under the care of my late mother, Diane, a special section of Coastlands was also used as a nursery to explore how different clones of Pinot Noir fared in the extreme conditions of the coast. Featuring vines planted in 1989 and 1996, our Diane Cobb block includes more than 20 clones of Pinot.

    • Accolades

"Powerful and concentrated, the Pinot Noir Diane Cobb: Coastlands Vineyard packs a serious punch in its dense fruit. Here, too, the tannins are plentiful. Tobacco, cedar, rose petal, orange peel and spice all lend an exotic flair, but the 2015 remains an intense, searing wine that begs for cellaring. In this vintage, the Diane Cobb is perhaps not as delineated as it can be, but it is nevertheless a very fine wine. The 2015 was done with 50% whole clusters and spent 22 months in French oak barrels, 50% new."
Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media - 94 Points

“Ross Cobb’s pinot noirs from his family’s Coastlands Vineyard are thrilling evocations of the west Sonoma coast: pure, tensile, complex wines that feel zesty and energetic.”
Luke Sykora, Wine & Spirits Magazine

“The Cobb family’s ultra-cool-climate home vineyard provides perfumed, intensely flavored wines that almost leap from the glass, with a firm core and a slow-developing lusciousness.”
      Richard Nalley, Forbes Magazine
