  • Cobb Pinot Noir Doc's Ranch: Pommard 114 2017 -- 1500ml

Cobb Pinot Noir Doc's Ranch: Pommard 114 2017

    • Tasting Notes

“Immediately accessible and generous, the Pommard & 114 Selection from Doc's Ranch is a noticeably more punchy and forward wine within the Cobb lineup. It is dense and layered on the nose, with notes of black cherries, red plums and black tea. The palate takes a spice-laden turn, showing notes of cardamom and anise within a juicy, succulent texture. Despite its ease of drinking now, this is a great candidate for long-term cellaring.”
Matthew Luczy, Wine Director at Mélisse Santa Monica

    • The Vineyard

The Sheets family planted this Pommard and Dijon 114 selection on this coastal vineyard neighboring our Coastlands Vineyard. We decided to blend the Pommard clone with the Dijon 114. The vineyard lies at 1,100 feet above sea level, 3 miles from Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

    • Accolades

“The 2017 Pinot Noir Doc's Ranch Vineyard Pommard & 114 Selection is rich, powerful and bombastic. Dark fruit, chocolate, spice and leather add to an impression of brooding gravitas. The style is built on power, but I find less finesse and less overall nuance. Next to the other wines in the range this feels clunky."
Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media January 2020 - 92 Points
