Mariani Vineyard is a little 1-acre jewel located just inland from Tomales Bay in far Western Petaluma -- one of the coldest parts of the Sonoma Coast. It was planted 13 years ago by Eric Neil, who has been our longtime vineyard manager at both Coastlands and Rice-Spivak. Eric chose an old Wente selection of Chardonnay for Mariani. Now that these vines have some nice age, they are producing spectacular fruit, and a fascinating wine that effortlessly straddles the line between poise and power. Because demand for our debut vintage was so great, we made a bit more in 2014 -- but for a 1-acre vineyard this still just means 65 cases, so this wine will go fast!
