Cobb Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard 2012

    • Tasting Notes

Winemaker's notes: An elegant Pinot Noir from my favorite vineyard in the Freestone Valley. Dark fruit notes of black cherry, as well as pomegranate and raspberry are underscored by crisp acidity and secondary characteristics of wet pine needles/forest floor, herbs and spice. A beautiful release, and a lovely expression of this wonderful vineyard.

    • The Vineyard

Year after year, this tiny little vineyard produces one of our very favorite Pinot Noirs. With a southwest exposure at an elevation of 800 feet, and some of the finest soils on the Sonoma Coast, Emmaline Ann Vineyard is a treasure. Located in one of the Sonoma Coast’s coldest microclimates, it gets the most shade and fog of any of the vineyards we work with. As a result, our Emmaline Ann Vineyard Pinot Noir is often the most subtle, sophisticated and Burgundian of our wines, and has become a favorite among connoisseurs of the style. It was fermented with 30% whole clusters.

    • Accolades

91 Points - Vinous - The 2012 Pinot Noir Emmaline Ann Vineyard has a lovely purity and translucence to it, although elements of reduction are presently masking the fruit. Cranberry, blood orange, spice, chalk and white pepper add nuance on the tightly wound finish.
