Cobb Pinot Noir Jack Hill Vineyard 2011

    • Tasting Notes

Ross Cobb's original tasting notes: The aromas are pure and delicate with layers of wild strawberry, black cherry and raspberry. Secondary notes of sage and lavender add sophistication, with firm tannins and a tart cherry acidity indicating a long life.

Evan Hufford, Wine Director and Head Sommelier at SingleThread Farms
      Healdsburg, CA - June 2018

"Savory like the 2007 but in a wholly different way, more geared toward kombu and orange peel. The 2011 is much softer in structure, without the 2007’s tannic structure. It’s definitely in its prime drinking window now. The most elegant and prettiest of the lineup. The tannins are fully integrated, giving it a soft and silky texture. The finish is all sea salt and nori in the most incredible way. This is a wine I would show others as a textbook example of the complexities and savory deliciousness of coastal California Pinot. While it is of course delicious on its own, it would really shine with an umami rich dish with mushrooms or seaweed to flex its incredible pairing capacity. This is the type of wine I only dream of having in large enough quantities to pour day in and day out in a restaurant."

    • The Vineyard

Year after year, this cool, steep, west-facing hillside vineyard delivers a graceful and complex expression of coastal Pinot Noir. Made from three different clones grown in sandy loam soils, it is an unrepentantly low alcohol wine that rewards Pinot lovers with its nerve, minerality and layered sophistication.

    • Accolades

"Bright red. Vibrant red berry, spicecake and herb scents are sharply focused and pure. Dry, nervy and mineral-driven on the palate, with bitter cherry and redcurrant flavors unfolding slowly with air. The spicy quality repeats on the finish, which is firmed by dusty, sneaky tannins."
Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar, 90 Points
